Babcock University was named after an American missionary by the name of David C. Babcock, who pioneered the work of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria in 1914. He was based in Erunmu in Oyo State, Nigeria. The Seventh-day Adventist education system is the world’s second-largest Christian school system.

Babcock University Schools

From the initial four schools, Babcock University has added a postgraduate school in the third quarter of 2010 and a medical school in January 2012. The latest additions are the Music and Educational Foundations departments to the Joel Awoniyi School of Education & Humanities. As of 2013, Babcock hosts nine schools and one college: They are:

  • School of Basic & Applied Sciences
  • School of Law & Security Studies
  • School of Postgraduate Studies

This private university is one of the biggest in Nigeria. The price for the tuition in this higher institution usually starts from N500,000 per year. There are also additional fees for books, library or accommodation.

Babcock University Admission

Minimum qualification for the First Degree Programs: 5 credits at the SSCE/GCE O’Level/NECO/NABTEB Examinations or their equivalent (at not more than 2 sittings ). The subjects passed must include English Language and Mathematics; one sitting only for Medicine & Surgery. Candidates below 16 years of age are advised not to apply.

CANDIDATES AWAITING IN WAEC/NECO SSCE RESULTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS BEFORE MATRICULATION.

Babcock university held its 2019 screening Exercise July 04 2019 and has released its first merit list for 2019/2020 academic session.

Babcock University Rules and Regulations

Babcock University is happy to admit students for 4-6 year programs. They accept only students who are at least 16 years. Below you will find a list of Babcock University admission rules and requirements for 2019.

Here are the main Babcock university rules and regulations you should follow:

  • 1 or 2 sittings and 5 credits at O’level NECO/SSCE/GCE/WAEC for other disciplines (first-degree program)
  • JAMB direct entry
  • Must hVE JAMB exam scores, which should be at least 200 points
  • JAMB admission letter if a student is transferred from a different institution
  • 1 sitting and 5 credits for Surgery (Medicine) department

In other words, you should either pass JAMB, transfer, use direct entry service or score 5 credits at NECO and other exams to be admitted to Babcock University.

Besides, each student who applies for Nursing (or medicine) through Direct Entry service has to meet these additional requirements:

  • Have a post-Registered Nurse (RN) certificate (such as RPHN, RPN or RM)
  • Be an RN at N&MCN
  • Provide your N&MCN license
  • Bring a reference letter from work
