Why are you interested in this position? (simple tip for right answer)

Why are you interested in working here? This is supposed to be one of the easiest questions when we go to an interview, but we can still mess it up. There are major points you should cover when trying to answer this question.

This is why in this article, you’ll learn the basic tips that will help you answer the question right. All you need to do is relate these tips to your skills and job and that’s it.

The majority of the interview candidates just want a job, they just want a paycheck and they’re not bothered who it is with. But the problem with those candidates is that they don’t end up staying in that job for too long., which is frustrating to the employer.

So, the interviewer is asking you the question, why are you interested in this position. They want to assess your motivation as to whether or not you have researched the role of this position.

Three (3) things you should include in your answers

  1. Mention the fact that you are seeking the position to enable you to grow and develop both personally and professionally.
  2. Mention that you feel this position is one that you can add value in, due to the fact that your skills, qualities and experiences are a match for the job description.
  3. Mention that having researched about their company, you’re attracted to their values, their previous track record of success, and their ambitious plans for the future.

So, here is an example to the interview question, why are you interested in this position?

I am interested in this position for several reasons. The first reason is that I am passionate about this type of work. It is something I very much enjoy and the skills And qualities I possess mean that I can confidently add value to this company in this position.

I am also interested in this position because having researched about the company I am also interested in your values, your track record, and achievements, and the fact that you have ambitious plans for the future.

If I am successful in this position, I see myself working in this position for many years to come whilst growing personally and professionally.”

That was a scripted answer to help you answer the question, but remember not to sound scripted when answering the question.

If you want to go further, look out for things that you have done in the past that you can use to help the company grow in the future. 

For example, if you’re to help them grow their social media accounts, don’t just tell them I will help you grow your social media account. 

Instead, relate an event from the past to the present, tell them in my previous position I was able to get their social media from that to this,  If I manage your social media account, I can also use the same techniques which I used in my previous company to grow their social media account by 50%  to grow that of your company.

Always let them know you enjoy working in that position and working with them will allow you to improve yourself.

Demonstrate your excitement and enthusiasm for that position. Don’t always assume that it is obvious to them you want the job because many other people can be there for different reasons.

Whenever we talk about what we love, our faces light up and the excitement always shows, make sure that that is the case here. Let the entire euphoria of being excited about the Job shows.
